5 Tips for the Perfect Wedding

We thought it was fitting to offer some tips for the perfect wedding. Next month we are on track to complete our wedding venue at Nature Mystique Retreat. We are thrilled that we will take part in making the big day incredibly special. With a beautiful lakeview setting, we offer the perfect fairytale fantasy setting. From hobbit to Moroccan themed or a traditional fairytale wedding, we have you covered. Here are 5 tips for the perfect wedding.

Choose A Venue that Showcases Your Vision

What have you envisioned when you dreamed of your perfect wedding? Is it a small intimate affair with flowers all around, your perfect white dress in a stunning outdoor setting? Are you looking for a destination wedding or do you prefer to marry close to home? What wedding theme do you have in mind?

Your Budget

When setting a budget, you want to make sure you include everything including a budget for things you may not have thought of. Some of the minor details can get overlooked but they add up so put a placeholder cushion for some unexpected items. Perhaps when you budgeted for your dress, you forgot to budget for jewelry or a tiara. Tiaras are a nice touch instead of your veil for prewedding photos to keep your hair perfect. Maybe you didn’t factor in a budget for the prewedding venue photos. I know my budget came short for hair and make up. I did a make up run through prior to the wedding to make sure it was the look I envisioned. Lots of venues require you have insurance for the big day, it costs a couple of hundred dollars and is not a big to do, so put it in the budget.

Consider the Experience

What do you want the experience to be like for you, your spouse to be and your guests? Is there enough lodging in the area to accommodate your guests. Perhaps a venue with lodging onsite for immediate access to family and your bridal and grooms party especially if it is a destination wedding. That makes logistics easier when you need your maid of honor, best man or immediate family to be available.

Planning

I suggest you treat your wedding like a project with a wedding planning project list of to do’s, timelines and who’s responsible for each item. Perhaps a coordinator for the day of the wedding to ensure everything runs smoothly and you can enjoy on your special day.

Expect the Unexpected

Not everything can go according to plan. Expect the unexpected. On my wedding day, I was on the 20th floor of a building getting ready and the elevator stopped working. So that meant nobody could help me put my dress on, the panic started, I needed to be downstairs for photos in two hours. Would I walk down 20 flights of stairs in my wedding dress? Take a deep breath when you feel like things start to feel overwhelming.

Things happen, nothing goes perfectly. Be at peace with the fact that it will be a beautiful day and don’t lose sight of what is most important. You are pledging to spend the rest of your life with your partner. The rest will work itself out and it’ll be a fun anecdote as part of your wedding story.

What I remember from my wedding, the sky was totally clear, a beautiful day. Because we were getting married on the beach, my fingers swelled a bit and we had a hard time getting the wedding ring on my finger. Again, a funny moment captured on camera. Everyone I loved was there and we had a beautiful day. Everything did not go according to plan, yet it was a day I will always cherish. Expect the unexpected and cherish every moment.
