Have you ever been told, so you’re having kids so your traveling days are over? Of course, you can travel with your kids. My travels with my family growing up are some of the most precious memories I have. I learned some of these lessons from my parents, talked to friends that love to travel with their kids and have practiced these tried and true travel tips for years.
I tip my hat to jet setting parents! We hope to see you at Nature Mystique Retreat. Here are 5 tips on how to travel with kids.
Start Early
I was four years old on my first trip out of the country. So, my advice is to start traveling with your kids when they are young. They learn to adapt early and it becomes part of their routine. They become used to being put in unfamiliar situations, changes in their routine and kids are very adaptable especially if they learn early.

Find Unique Places that are Great for Kids and Adults
There are places that your kids will enjoy and help you capture the inner child in you as well. There are also pet friendly accommodations. At Nature Mystique retreat we created this fantasy adventure experience with unique hobbit inspired vacation cabins 3 miles from Hocking Hills State Park Ohio. The vibrant colors and unique cabin designs along with the amenities we offer provide a great experience for families. Families love our Daisy hobbit inspired cabin. It has bunk beds for the kids and a Queen for the adults, all part of the adventure. Another family favorite is Casablanca, one young guest told us in made her think of Aladdin and she couldn’t wait to see the carpet flying in the air. There’s something for everyone and we have pet friendly cabins.
Snacks, Snacks and More Snacks
Snacks are an absolute must when traveling with kids. My 2 favorite sayings while traveling as a kid was “Are we there yet” and “I’m hungry”. Luckily there is so much more technology for kids during your travels. If you want to opt for some healthier options, you certainly can. You can make your own trail mix, bars or my favorite new snacks for traveling is blueberry and banana almond flour muffins. I make them in the mornings before our travels and they are a big hit.
Pack Light
Pack light, you will thank me when you do. It makes travel a lot less complicated. If you need something, there are markets and stores where you are so don’t worry too much about an exhaustive packing listing. Believe me, as the trip goes on that bag just seems to feel heavier and heavier. Pick versatile clothing and the basics for you and the kids, pieces that all go with each other. You can also take a few scarves and accessories to make the outfits look new and different. I write an entire article about packing light. I have traveled with many friends that struggled with it. However, my family members have it down to a science.

Road Trips
As a kid road trips were my absolute favorite. Exploring on the way to your destination, playing road trip games in the car and eating at these fun spots along the way.
