Golden Travel Rules I Live By

So, I have been traveling since I was three years old. Still love traveling and love creating wonderful travel experiences for our guests. It is essential to make the most out of your travels. Here are some travel rules I live by to enjoy my travels to the fullest.

Go Where the Locals Go

Go where the locals go. They know the best places to eat and shop that don’t necessarily break the bank. It also helps you immerse yourself in the culture and meet new people. Off the beaten path places can turn out to be a diamond in the rough. You can also ask your vacation rental host for travel tips; they are happy to help make your stay more enjoyable.

Travel at Off Peak Times for Great Travel Experiences

I had the best time traveling to Hocking Hills in February. Hocking Hills State Park wasn’t crowded, it was so peaceful and it gave me a great chance to truly explore. I loved my hikes, the air was crisp and it wasn’t too hot as I discovered new trails. I had a couple of layers and took a layer off as I went. The sounds of nature were so calming and beautiful, the cascading waterfalls, the birds and this magnificent deer we came across. At night, I couldn’t get enough of the hot tub. Traveling off peak can be a great value as well.

Practical Packing

I do know that this can be a challenge but believe me, once you learn to be a smart packer, you will never go back. You will definitely thank me for making your travels so much easier. Rolling your clothing instead of folding is such a great space saver. It also keeps your clothing from wrinkling. Packing neutral colors so everything works well together is great for mixing and matching outfits. This way, you make the most of what you have with lots of flexibility in choices. Learn to be an expert packer, it will be worth it.

Unique Stays

I love unique stays, it definitely enhances travel experiences. It was part of the inspiration behind our Magical Earth Retreat, Nature Mystique Retreat. Thinking about what we were most excited about on our travels is something we wanted to incorporate at our Hocking Hills vacation rental retreat. Spending the day exploring and then coming back to your whimsical, rustic cabin is all part of the fun. I have a passion for unique architecture and am fascinated by cozy lodging and creative designs. It inspires my best ideas.

Do Your Research and Still Allow for Spontaneity

Plan ahead for your next trip. Come up with a rough itinerary of must see attractions but leave some time for spontaneity. You may stubble across a street performer or a charming rustic shop or a cool outside market with the best home made sweets. You never know. If you stumble upon something cool, enjoy it. Live in the moment.

Have Fun

So, it is time to relax, enjoy and unplug. Have fun and make the most of all these precious moments. This is why you work so hard so you have a chance to play. My golden travel rules have served me well throughout my many travels. Happy Traveling, your next travel destination awaits.
